10 student-athletes are in consideration for TCPalm’s Athlete of the Week for the period from March 7-19.
Two weeks ago, Fort Pierce Central state champion wrestler Gabriel Jacas was voted Athlete of the Week, earning 33 percent of over 24,000 votes.
Voting begins at noon Monday and will close Thursday at noon.
Coaches can email scores to [email protected] or [email protected] The deadline for each night’s results is 10:30 p.m. Voting is restricted to once per device an hour.
Nick Robert, Martin County
In six games played for the Tigers, Robert batted .333 (4-for-12) with four RBI, and in two starts on the mound struck out 13 in 12 innings, allowing only two earned runs. On Mar. 14 in a 9-1 win over Ponte Vedra, Robert struck out eight in a complete-game two-hitter and went 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate.
Egan Keeler, John Carroll Catholic
In two starts for the stretch, Keeler struck out seven in five innings, allowing two earned runs in a 9-6 Ram win over Delray Beach American Heritage and on Mar 15, Keeler struck out 11 and allowed an unearned run over 6 2/3 innings to lead the Rams to a 5-1 win over Avon Park.
Hailey Brereton, Centennial
On Mar. 8, Brereton struck out 10 in a no-hitter to help the Eagles defeat Lincoln Park Academy 2-0.
Olivia Kaes, Centennial
Threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns back on Mar. 7 in a 26-25 win over St. Cloud and added two more touchdown passes and a touchdown run in a 26-6 win over Treasure Coast on Mar. 10
Lauren Duke, Jensen Beach
In the Falcons’ 26-20 win over Vero Beach, Duke caught two touchdown passes and collected two interceptions, one she took back for a score on Mar. 8 and added two more interceptions on defense in a 27-0 win over South Fork on Mar. 10.
Ricky Savage, St. Edward’s
In the Pirates’ 13-9 win over Episcopal School of Dallas on Mar. 16, Savage scored a team-high six goals to lead the way.
Kiera Runske, Vero Beach
Scored five goals to help Vero rally from an early deficit and defeat Valor Christian out of Colorado 15-11 on Mar. 14.
Dylan deWindt, Martin County
In two match wins on Mar. 8 and Mar. 10, deWindt went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and also helped the No. 1 doubles team win its matches for the Tigers.
Grace Levelston, Vero Beach
On Mar. 17, Levelston helped Vero sweep St. Edward’s with a win at No. 1 singles and teamed up at No. 1 doubles to also score a victory.
Anthony Matthew, Martin County
At the Set Goals Not Limits Distance Showcase at Satellite High School on Mar. 18, Matthew set a school record in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:18.83 to win the event for the Tigers.
