Exeter High School baseball player Ruben Ruiz was voted by readers as the Visalia Times-Delta Tulare County prep athlete of the week.
In an online poll that closed on April 22, Ruiz received 2,168 votes, or a 33.9{c2959109750a408b57b93849e4f6c0b25384840fb4bae13e611646209767c39f} majority, of the 6,419 responses.
Ruiz hit a grand slam, and finished with five RBIs in a 17-7 rout of Orosi.

Here are the choices for the week of April 11-15:
- Alexus Carter, softball, Golden West. Carter hit a solo home run as the Trailblazers defeated Bakersfield 10-1 at the Tulare Tournament.
- Grace Chojnacki, softball, Mission Oak. Chojnacki hurled 12 strikeouts in a complete-game performance in the Hawks’ 3-2 win over Sanger.
- John Mosqueda, baseball, Lindsay. Mosqueda went the distance with eight strikeouts in a 4-1 win over Mission Oak.
- Brandt Munger, baseball, Central Valley Christian. Munger tossed eight strikeouts in four innings as the Cavaliers downed Corcoran 16-0.
- Daniel Parker, baseball, Redwood. Parker fired seven strikeouts in a complete-game shutout to pilot the Rangers to a 5-0 victory against Madera.
- Ruben Ruiz, baseball, Exeter. Ruiz hit a grand slam, and finished with five RBIs in a 17-7 rout of Orosi.
Anyone (coaches, parents, teammates, teachers, friends, etc.) can nominate an athlete of the week for every sport.
